Because I read the reviews carefully I knew the two shelves were different lengths so I paid close attention to the assembly instructions. I can see how easy it would be to switch them accidentally since the drawing could be clearer but the assembly went smoothly and I'm very happy with the table. I can't say it looks like high end furniture but for its price point it's sturdy and attractive. There's a small spot on the top edge that is rough and might give me a splinter so I just turned that toward the wall. Overall the finish is smooth and the bamboo color is warm and natural. I'm using it to hold exercise equipment and have light weigh dumbbells on the bottom shelf but I needed to remove a set since the shelf was bowing slightly. There's nothing in the description that implies the shelves should be able to hold much weight. I'm so pleased with the quality that I think I'm going to order Nnewvante's bamboo desk too!
